Obituary for Eunice Billings

Mrs. Eunice Billings of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, November 30, 2018, at the age of 100. She was born August 29, 1918 at Calico Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of Martin Albert and Rhoda Ann (Thomas) Smith.
On May 30, 1939, Miss Eunice Smith and Mr. Alfard Billings married, and together they spent 58 years, building a family and raising four sons. She was a homemaker who picked cotton when she was young, later making thousands of cakes for people out of her home. Mrs. Billings baked and decorated cakes for weddings and birthdays many years. After she retired from cake making, she began painting. Mrs. Billings loved cats, flowers, and crafts of all kinds. She handmade Christmas gifts for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was wonderful at embroidery, crochet, and painting.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Alfard James Billings on January 12, 1997; her daughter-in-law, Phyllis Billings; three brothers; and four sisters.
Mrs. Billings is survived by four sons, Jimmy Billings and wife, Joyce, of Texarkana, Arkansas, Keith Billings of Newport, Larry Billings of Tuckerman, and Bobby Billings and wife, Betty, of Germantown, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Jo Alice Harris, Kathy Read, Kendall Billings, Josh Billings, Tabby Billings, Anna Billings Moore, and Stephen Billings; seventeen great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great grandchildren.
Friends may visit at the Campbell Station Baptist Church, Tuesday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Charlie Churchman officiating. Interment will be in Gracelawn Cemetery.
