Obituary for Dennis Johnson

Dennis Johnson
Mr. Dennis James Johnson of Newport, Arkansas, formerly of Bradford, departed this life on Friday, May 11, 2018, at the age of 62. He was born May 24, 1955, in Trumann, Arkansas, the son of Boyd and Elleba Latting Johnson Clester.
Mr. Johnson was a United States Army veteran, and loved to watch the Razorbacks play baseball, basketball and football. On October 27, 1984 he married Debora Newberry and they spent 33 years of marriage together. He loved the outdoors and working in his yard. Mr. Johnson worked as a bookkeeper and a medical equipment salesman with United Medical and he was of the Church of Christ faith. He loved his Pepsi, peppermint candy and after lunch you could always hear him say “I’m going to get me some real food now” meaning chocolate candy of some sort. He hated shopping (as most men do) and His family will always remember the nicknames he had for them, Starla was Star baby and Debora Mama or Moo Moo.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Sanford, J.E. and Randy Johnson, and one sister, Joe Ann Rogers.
He is survived by his wife, Debora (Newberry)Johnson of the home; one daughter, Starla Johnson Swaller,(Michelle Swaller) of Jonesboro; one brother, Tom Johnson, of Fort Smith; one sister, Shirley Johnson Heintz, of Hobe Sound, Florida; three special aunts, Pat Graham, Reda Butler and Ottie Venable; many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Graveside services are Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at Heard Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday, 5:00 -7:00 p.m.
