Obituary for Willard Ray Davis

Willard Ray Davis, of Harrisburg, would have been 93 on his birthday May 14, 1925 departed this life Monday, May 1, 2018. He was born in Kurtville, Mississippi the son of Robert and Bertie (Moore) Davis. Willard married Lucinda Johnson on November 1, 1950 and they enjoyed sixty-two years of marriage before her passing on December11, 2012. Willard enjoyed hunting and fishing and was of the Baptist faith. Willard was owner and operator of Davis & Carter Welding Shop outside of Harrisburg. He also for more than fifty years operated a dragline all throughout the Southern states from the Rio Grande to the East Coast. He never had to look for work people came seeking him. Willard was preceded in death by parents, one step-son, Larry Carter, one step-daughter, Elyven Joyce Fore, and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by several generations of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Bro. Jason Goad will conduct the service and Willard’s great-grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 4, 2018 at Jackson’s Funeral Home with visitation Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 6:00 ~ 8:00 P.M. Interment will be in Holly Springs Cemetery. Arrangements are by Jackson’s Funeral Home.
