Scottie Ray  Holt
Mr. Scottie Ray Holt of Newark, Arkansas departed this life on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the age of 69. He was born December 6, 1949 in Newport, Arkansas, the son of James Wylie and Tressie (Oliver) Holt Durham. Mr. Scottie Ray Holt married Miss Debra Jefferies on December 18, 1976, and together they spent 41 years building a life together.
Mr. Holt was a 1967 graduate of Newport High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served two enlistments which included a tour in Vietnam. Mr. Holt was a lifetime member of VFW Post 4683 and DAV, Chapter 34.
He retired from the Independence Steam Electrical Station after 27 years of service as a control room operator and was a member of the Newark First Baptist Church.
Mr. Holt enjoyed reading and studying his Bible. He was an avid collector of vintage models, and spent a great deal of time building models. His greatest love was his family, and he enjoyed nothing more than time spent with his wife, Debra, his children, and his grandchildren.
Mr. Holt was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Janet Gay Holt Sylar.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Jeffries Holt, of the home; one son, Adam Scott Holt and wife, Brandy of Jackson, Missouri; one daughter, Annah Campbell and husband, Charlie of Charlotte; two stepbrothers, Frankie Lynn Durham, of Forth Worth, Texas and Bill Durham of Jacksonport; one stepsister, Carolyn Butts and husband, Dale of Bono; five grandchildren, Clayton Fisher Campbell, Leilah McKenzie Campbell, Brady Scott Holt, Luke Henry Holt and Abigail Joy Holt; one niece, Susan Langford; his step-father, Franklin Durham of Newport; his step-mother, Mildred Holt of Jonesboro, several step nieces and nephews, a host of family and a lifetime of friends.
Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home, with a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Greene County Memorial Garden Cemetery in Paragould. Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
