Obituary for Robert James "Rusty" Sheppard

Robert James "Rusty"  Sheppard
Mr. Robert James “Rusty” Sheppard of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the age of 62. He was born December 6, 1955 in Newport to Wilma Marzell Sheppard and R.J. Wren.
Rusty grew up in Shoffner and Diaz, Arkansas. He was co-parented by his grandparents, Cincus and Georgia Wilson Sheppard, along with his mother, Wilma “Bobbie” Sheppard.
He was a member of a LARGE and loving family. Rusty loved being with his family and was the “family clown”, making everyone laugh at his antics. He managed to get his sisters and brothers weekly spankings for going along with his crazy ideas!
He greatly enjoyed time spent with his children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was “Daddy”, “Graddy”, and “Uncle Rusty”. He always captivated them with family history, some of his exploits and how bad his siblings (the parents of his nieces and nephews) were.
Rusty was a member of the Newport High School Class of 1973. He was a member of the 5th Street Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army Veteran from the Vietnam era.
This loving brother, father, and uncle will be forever remembered for his caring and fun loving spirit.
Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma Sheppard Woodruff and R.J. Wren. His step-father, C.S. Woodruff, Sr., his maternal grandparents, Cincus and Georgia Wilson Sheppard; paternal grandparents, Willie Joe and Ruby Rosetta Wren. He is also preceded by his special Aunt “Bittie”, Harriett Sheppard, with whom he was raised. Also his brothers, David Woodruff, Sr., Edward Wren “Lou”, his sister, Emma Woodruff Shannon, nephews, Stevie Arnold, Bryant Q. Carter, and great-nephew, Jeffery Charles Clifton.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Sheppard; children, Shawna Pelligrino, Kristen Sheppard-Ellis, Janice Nichole Binkley, Danielle Harris and his son, Chris Griffin; his grandkids, Elijah, Chris, Ellis, and Tristian Sheppard, Marzella Pelligrino, Alivia, Kelvin, and Killian Sheppard, and Aniyah Griffin.
His surviving siblings are his brothers, Robert Charles Wren, Charles Woodruff, Jr., Michael Sheppard, Michael Wren, Calvin Woodruff, Joseph Woodruff, and Tony Woodruff, Ernest and Anthony McDowell; and his sisters, Glenda Hall, Karyn Randolph Jones, Lorna Gail Sheppard, LaTonya McFarlin, Tracy Woodruff, Bertha Carter, Verbia Gibson, Helen Peel, Mable Woodruff, Carolyn Clark Wren, Ora Mae Brown, Pat Wren, Vivian Wren, Rose Hall, Toya, Torrie, and Ronecia McDowell. He is also survived by Sisters-in-law, Betty Woodruff and Barbara Wren, and special sister-in-law, Vickie Woodruff; aunts and uncles include Mary Lou Wren, Bobby Joe Wren, Gene Wren, JoElla Sain, Ora Lee and Edmond Wren. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Friday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Fifth Street Church of Christ with Mr. Harold Young officiating. Interment will follow along with military honors at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Shoffner.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Kemp McCoy, Michael Sheppard, Steve Worsham, Trent Woodruff, Calvin Woodruff, Joe Walker, Jacky Livingston, Joe Woodruff, Brandon Hickman, and Favian Neal. Honorary pallbearers are Brothers of 5th Street Church of Christ.
