Obituary for Betty Wood

Betty  Wood
Betty Hurst Wood, 86, of Judsonia, passed away in McCrory on November 10, 2017. She was born at Grand Glaise on November 16, 1930 to Richard and Sue Hurst. She grew up in Tupelo and Weldon.
Betty was a member of the Judsonia Church of Christ.
She was a wonderful homemaker and loving mother to her two sons. She spoiled her four grandchildren who spent many nights at her home. “Granny” or “Gan” as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren called her, was beloved by her seven great-grandchildren, whom she adored. She was an incredible cook and homemaker and loved practicing her culinary skills.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, James Wood, Sr., sister, Rosamond Miller, and granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Wood.
She is survived by sons, Jim Wood, Jr. (Ann) of North Little Rock, and Michael Wood (Debbie) of Tupelo. Betty is also survived by grandchildren, Jim Wood, III (Holly) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Lori Ray (Doyle) of Gosnell, Brandon Wood (Shea) of Maumelle, and David Wood (Debra) of Tupelo; great-grandchildren, Taylor Page, Allison Wood, Lauren Wood, Kate Wood, Jake Wood, Trace Wood and Garrett Wood. Betty leaves behind two sisters, Lanell Hunt of Bryant and Joan Jernigan of Dardanelle.
The family wishes to thank the Woodruff County Wellness Center for the excellent care Betty received and a special thanks to Debbie Wood, Lori Ray, Debra Wood, and Linda Foster for the loving attention they gave Betty during her final months.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Jackson's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in White Lake Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday 12:30 p.m. until service time.
