Mr. Billy C. Gale of Swifton, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at the age of 89. He was born September 24, 1928, the son of Joe Smith Gale and Emma Lee (Winemiller) Gale.
Mr. Gale was a United States Navy veteran, and was active in local and state politics. He retired from Great Lakes Steel in Ecorse, Michigan, following 30 years of service as a steel worker. Mr. Gale was an antique car enthusiast, and enjoyed restoring cars and trucks. He loved horses, and had many over the years. Mr. Gale sang in a barbershop quartet, and worked as a real estate agent and auctioneer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Mary (Parks) Gale; one brother, J.C. Gale; three sisters, Jewell Wallace, Mildred Gilda, and Glenna Evans.
Mr. Gale is survived by two brothers, Don Gale of Swifton, Arkansas, and Virgil Gale of Monroe, Michigan; two sisters, Peggy Willmuth of Lincoln Park, Michigan, and Jimmie Rutherford of Galbraith, Michigan; many nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Sue Lovelady.
Memorial services are 2:00 p.m. Monday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with interment at Arnold Cemetery.
