Mr. Horace “Rob” Robinson of Powhatan, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the age of 91. He was born March 27, 1926 in Asherville, Missouri, the son of Claude J. and Anna Gertrude (Starks) Robinson.
Mr. Robinson was a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II. During his service, he was the first scout for General George W. Patton. He married Miss Emma Lois Page on January 19, 1946, and together they built a life and raised their four children.
Mr. Robinson worked in the secret service, and was a 3rd Degree Mason. He had many talents, including knife-making, and woodworking. Mr. Robinson was an expert at building wagons and houses. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, welding, and had the ability to play any instrument he picked up. While he was self-employed as a barber, his family lovingly referred to him as a jack of all trades.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Lois (Page) Robinson; three brothers, Doyle Boydston, Eugene Boydston, and James Boydston; one sister, Peggy Ann Brackin; and his parents.
He was survived by four children, Steven Robinson and wife, Bonnie, of Hernando, Mississippi, Billy Robinson and wife, Marsha, of Powhatan, Arkansas, Elaine Ellington of Hernando, Mississippi, and Teresa Arnold and husband, Chris, of Hernando, Mississippi; one half-sister, Deloris Helton of Little Rock; twelve grandchildren, Shannon Robinson, Brian Austein, Chad Robinson, Dustin Austein, Christy Gowan, Chris Robinson, Amber Allen, Kayla Colvert, Haley Robinson, Jordan Robinson, Tristen Woolard, Cheyenne Draine; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with interment following at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Chris Robinson, Chad Robinson, Brian Austein, Dustin Austein, Shannon Robinson, Jordan Robinson, and Tristen Woolard. Honorary pallbearers are Christy Gowan, Amber Allen, Kayla Colvert, and Haley Robinson.
