Obituary for Juanita (Murphy) Davis

Juanita (Murphy) Davis
Mrs. Juanita Dean (Murphy) Davis of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, August 28, 2017, at the age of 96. She was born May 1, 1921 at Murphy’s Corner, the daughter of Loyd Dean and Lena Wilma (Harper) Murphy.
Mrs. Davis was a 1939 graduate of Newport High School, and a member of the Umstead Memorial United Methodist Church. She was an excellent homemaker, and a wonderful mother. Mrs. Davis was a conservationist, who kept bird feeders, and enjoyed wild bird watching. She Davis loved her home on village creek, and was an avid reader and weather watcher.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Lindley Hurley Davis; one grandson, Lindley Harrison Adkisson; two brothers, Harold Neylon "Bud" Murphy and Infant Loyd Dean Murphy, Jr; one sister, Peggy Waters; and one niece, Phillip Sue Waters.
She is survived by one son, Lindley Murphy Davis; three daughters, Sally Adkisson and husband, Ronnie, of Melbourne, Nancy Bechel and husband, Jerry, of Memphis, and Melody Davis of Newport; two grandchildren, Deedra Adkisson Roberson and husband, Jacob, of Sherwood, and Lauren Bechel of Memphis; and one niece, Connie Jane Waters of Waters Community; and a lifetime of friends.
Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home, Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Wardell “Poppy” Pennington Memorial Food Pantry, 1312 McLain, Newport, AR 72112.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Kenny Davis, John Clark, Joe Bailey, Kenneth Bullard, David Jackson, and Derek Haigwood.
